A note for whoever launches this site
This page is a working draft written to match how the site currently behaves. Before going live, confirm it reflects your actual setup — particularly your analytics, any embedded services, and your hosting provider’s logging — and have someone qualified review it against the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Then delete this box.
What we collect
This site does not ask you to create an account, and it does not require you to give us anything in order to read it. There is no login, no paywall and no mandatory form.
If you email us or use the contact form, we receive whatever you choose to put in it — your name, your email address and whatever you write. We use it to reply to you and, if you have sent us a scam, to understand the pattern so we can write about it.
Like almost every website, our hosting provider records basic technical information when a page is served: an IP address, a browser type, the page requested and the time. This is standard server logging and we do not use it to identify individuals.
What we do with it
We reply to your message. We may use the pattern of a scam you report in a future guide — how it worked, what the message said — with every identifying detail removed. We do not publish your name, email address or college without asking first. We do not sell, rent or share your information for marketing, and we do not add you to a mailing list because you contacted us.
What we ask you not to send us
Please do not send us Aadhaar numbers, bank account numbers, card numbers, passwords, PINs or OTPs — yours or anyone else’s. We do not need them, we will never ask for them, and if you have sent them by mistake, tell us and we will delete the message.
If anyone contacts you claiming to be from The Digital Big Brother and asks for any of the above, or asks you for payment, it is not us.
Cookies and analytics
Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google’s servers when a page loads. If analytics are added later, this section will be updated to say what is collected and how to opt out.
Links to other sites
We link to official resources such as cybercrime.gov.in. We are not affiliated with them and we are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices. Once you leave this site, their policies apply.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email info@thedigitalbigbrother.com and we will act on it.
Disclaimer
We are not law enforcement, a bank, a government body or a law firm, and we have no affiliation with any of them. Nothing on this site is legal advice, financial advice or a substitute for professional guidance on your specific situation.
We cannot investigate cases, contact anyone on your behalf, freeze accounts or recover money. If you have been defrauded, contact the national cyber crime helpline on 1930 and file at cybercrime.gov.in. Anyone offering to recover your money for a fee should be treated as a second scam.
We work to keep this site accurate, but scams change constantly and procedures, helplines and portals can change without notice. Always verify official contact details through official government sources before acting on them.
About the scam examples
Every scam screen shown on this site is a reconstruction created for teaching. None of them are real screenshots. All company names, phone numbers, UPI IDs, web addresses and account details in them are fictional, and any resemblance to a real business, person or account is unintended.
